Novartis announces digital collaboration with Hewlett Packard Enterprise
Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis has announced a collaboration with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) to accelerate its use of data and digital technologies.
This collaboration has three main axes: identifying complex data sources related to health; advance the application of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and geospatial analysis to this data; and expanding access to technology in “underserved” areas.
Novartis, through its collaboration with HPE, aims to identify and integrate a variety of data sources to enable real-time disease information to inform “targeted response strategies”.
Initially, the partnership will aim to develop a dengue disease surveillance solution, focusing first on India.
As part of this collaboration, Novartis and HPE hope to help combat the growing threat of dengue fever by developing publicly accessible information.
These will help authorities deploy response strategies targeting populations at risk, with the resulting real evidence also intended to complement the drug discovery efforts of the Novartis Institute for Tropical Diseases.
“Novartis is committed to applying its expertise and full organizational capacity to address the major and unresolved challenges of global health. With Hewlett Packard Enterprise, we will seek to leverage data, digital and technological capabilities to maximize this impact, ”said Lutz Hegemann, group leader of corporate affairs and global health at Novartis.
