User finds ‘shiny’ homes on Google Maps, Reddit pokes fun at MTG’s ‘space lasers’
GOP Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has been the target of trolls for a very long time. Once again, she found herself mercilessly mocked on Reddit after a user noticed something unusual on Google Maps – two glowing houses. Instantly, others referred to Greene’s infamous “Jewish space lasers”, believing the glow to be caused by aliens. The reality, however, is a bit more boring.
For over a year now, Greene has been the subject of vicious trolling for his many strange statements and beliefs. She supported many wild conspiracy theories during her tenure in Congress, including several originating from QAnon. And since being fired as a House committee, Greene has spent her time in Congress defending Donald Trump and espousing dangerous theories.

For those of you in need of a refresher, in January 2021, an old Greene Facebook post popped up. In it, she blamed the deadly 2019 California wildfires on “Jewish space lasers,” a claim that instantly went viral and was widely mocked. It has since been deleted, but reappears every now and then in obscure corners of the internet, like the Reddit post in question.
What is shine?
The weird sighting was uploaded to Reddit by u / xmaxer sometime in April 2021. User posted: “I’m kidding and I’ve been to a dark island off the Irish coast. I found these houses that are brightly lit (You may see other houses in contrast are normal). Does anyone have any idea what this is or why it glows? ” As you can see in the image below, at first glance it looks quite strange.
Immediately, the r / GoogleMaps community got down to business and made fun of Greene. “Lasers. They are alien lasers,” replied one person. Another joked, “Are you sure it’s not Jewish Space Lasers, Marjorie?” One user took it one step further, commenting: “The name is Doremus. Alien enthusiast and Mexican Jew. I assure you Marjorie is not a friend of mine for one, and for two they are alien lasers. Space. Alien. Laser. “
Greene’s theory wasn’t the only one on the list. Another user believed this was caused by Leprechauns’ “Reflections from their Pots of Gold”. The reality, however, is much less fantastic or extraterrestrial. As some users have pointed out, it appears that the light spots are just reflections, caused either by a shiny metallic surface or by windows placed at an odd angle in order to reflect the sun.
We can say with certainty that these are not solar panels or space lasers. But what exactly it is remains a mystery. As the user did not say which island exactly he took the image from, we can only guess at the origin of the spots. But we suppose that is quite wrong, it is certainly the space lasers.
