State unveils new interactive online mapping tool

BOSTON (WWLP) – MassMapper, a new interactive online mapping tool that provides several types of geological information in Massachusetts, is now available.
Developed by the Office of Geographic Information Systems (MassGIS) of the Executive Office of Technology and Security Services (EOTSS), the website will enable anyone looking for information, especially in the areas of land surveying. , engineering and real estate, to better interact with the States. MassMapper will offer uses such as site design, land inventory and public policy planning.
MassGIS also offers Muni Mappers, a personalized on-demand mapping service that integrates local data provided by the municipality for a more personalized mapping tool at no cost to towns and villages, a bonus for small communities that may not be in. able to afford it external IT providers.
The new website is part of the state’s efforts to invest in initiatives to modernize the cybersecurity posture and IT infrastructure. The features and design were developed after public and private sector feedback, as well as extensive testing of the product before launch. In addition to offering a faster, cleaner and more intuitive user experience, MassMapper offers a number of new features:
- Map markup: Users now have markup capabilities to customize the map, including the ability to add text, draw boundaries, and more.
- Geo-fence: Ability to geo-fence an area by drawing a boundary to extract data from a targeted location on a map – a particularly useful task when uploading data for a targeted location into Excel / CSV files.
- PDF work product: Users can now create a PDF of a personalized map for an improved end-work product that users can share with their customers.
