Google Maps users frightened by ’10-meter-long whale’ spotted in ocean near coast
Google Earth users were frightened after discovering what appears to be a 10.2-meter-long whale in satellite images off the coast of California.
The find went viral as Reddit fans got excited for the images captioned: “Look West Coast on Google Maps and Find a Whale!”
The sea beast, which is around 33 feet tall, is only a third the size of an adult whale.
It was located at 38 Â° 37’39.6 “N 123 Â° 23’33.3” W, near Rocky Point, California, on the west coast of the United States.
Other Reddit users praised the find as they speculated what species it might be. and other cracked jokes.
One user said, “It’s definitely a blue whale. Distinctive shape and size.”
Another added: “It’s a gray whale. 30 feet long and close to shore
A third joked, “Whale whale whale what do we have here.”
A fourth commented: “Sounds super interesting. Whales in the sea, polar bears at the North Pole, tigers in India, lions in Africa …”
The discovery that was posted on Reddit today (November 1) is believed to have been found in “satellite images taken in September 2018”.
The news comes after a Reddit user shared a fascinating screenshot of a remote island from Google Maps that looks like Grogu, the Disney + Star Wars character aka Baby Yoda.
The screenshot, which was uploaded to a dedicated Google Maps Reddit page, shows a green landmass that even appears to have the creature’s ears.
As the author of the curious sighting captioned âBaby Yoda Island,â other users seemed to have identified other animated characters, from Dumbo to Stitch.
Some of the group’s 40,000 members also saw Shrek, the green ogre from the movie and franchise of the same name, as well as a cow.
