The Berlin-headquartered geospatial data and analytics market UP42, which earlier this month made available ultra-high-resolution optical images of the Earth captured by its satellites, is looking to s’ partner with government to help achieve the goals of the Indian Space Association and Gati Shakti. more profitable. Earth observation is the process of measuring and evaluating the planet’s natural and man-made environments and applying data and derived information to solve critical problems such as climate change, deforestation, food security and natural disasters. , among others, said Sean Wiid, general manager of UP42 at PTI in Berlin. .

Pléiades Neo is a constellation of four satellites, operated by the defense and aerospace arm of the European aircraft manufacturer Airbus, providing very high resolution native images of 30 cm for Earth observation activities. The combination delivers much faster and cheaper daily data to end users across all industries, including urban mapping, infrastructure monitoring, disaster response, insurance, and agriculture.

Earlier this month, UP42 said ultra-high-resolution optical images of the Earth, taken by the Airbus Pleiades Neo constellation, were available in its geospatial marketplace and development platform.

This is important because consistent coverage and faster turnaround time of the new constellations, including radar data, radio frequency data and real-time satellite imagery at very high resolution, said Wiid, the addition of such high frequency data will be a game-changer in vegetation management. or maritime surveillance.

In February 2021, the government liberalized mapping technologies to help realize its vision of a $ 5,000 billion economy, as advancements in mapping technology have become the basis for innovation and direct contribution. mission mode projects such as smart cities, highways, clean rivers and global digitization.

Given the government’s efforts to establish a collaborative geospatial ecosystem, these large datasets play a crucial role in helping local organizations generate social, economic and environmental impact using Earth observation data and analysis, Wiid told PTI.

UP42 is less expensive because it removes the technical and business barriers to access this information and helps companies create successful geospatial products because UP42 is a development platform and market.

UP42 being a development platform and marketplace, it is much more affordable, and more specifically because it is a neutral one-stop-shop for data and analytics – thanks to our very simple payment model. pay-as-you-go, in which users purchase credits in advance. for a combination of data, algorithms and infrastructure, Wiid said.

“We are an API-first platform, which makes it actionable by automating the flow of data and analysis to our customers. We provide our users with a single interface to access and process data on demand through our APIs or user interfaces and customers just purchase the data needed to cover their area of interest and then take advantage of standard processing capabilities to analyze data. datasets without investing in their own IT infrastructure, ”Wiid told PTI.

UP42 currently has over 150 products from over 50 of the world’s largest geospatial companies available on the market to solve a wide variety of use cases: find features, count objects, detect changes, discover patterns, classify land use and derive vegetative indices, he mentioned.

Regarding the possibility of entering India, said Widd, the democratization of geospatial technology can be a powerful solution to some of the biggest problems facing the world today, in addition to helping achieve economic benefits and downstream societals for the needy.

“We recognize India’s efforts to create a collaborative ecosystem by establishing the Indian Space Association and facilitating the Gati Shakti Masterplan, which are the two essential initiatives that can lead the country into an innovative technological era that can benefit the both to the population and to the economy. As an active member of this ecosystem, our presence here could potentially be a natural evolution of our strategy for global expansion, ”said Wiid.

As we explore this new market, we are definitely keen to build strong relationships with the Center and the States, to help make a difference in the geospatial industry, he said.
