A starving Google Maps driver apparently risked exposing his bank card details while ordering a takeaway from a McDonald’s drive-thru service.
TikTok account @googlemapsfun posted a video of someone, presumably a Google employee, reaching out a window to pay for their drive-thru order.
Google Maps cars have a large camera on the top. They are driven to capture up-to-date images.
It seems that this driver forgot to turn off the camera when he got hungry and decided to stop at the fast food restaurant in Poppleton, York in England.
The person who spotted the photo captured the moment at the McDonald’s drive-thru by tapping on a few different spots until they got the card.
The Google Street View camera captured a disembodied hand handing its card to a McDonald’s employee at the window.
If you take a closer look, the Google Maps driver used the map face down and hid the CVC with their hand when paying.
“Google is disclosing its credit card at McDonald’s,” read the text of the video.
One user said, “Sitting in a car all day and snacking on McDonald’s.” Another wrote: “And now their bosses know it’s stuck on Google Maps forever. I bet they wish they had a burger now.”
A third user commented: âLmao is the back of the card and not the front where it shows the numbers is not fooling us. Yet another posted, “Sorry to be the killjoy, but you need the card number, expiration, and CVC code.” Good luck !
