Same ‘stray’ dog appears in same spot in Bulgarian town on Google Maps seven years apart

Lost dog‘from Bulgaria left Reddit users are completely baffled after Google Maps images taken seven years apart suggest he has a house after all.

Photos from Google Maps show the dog, who appears to be wandering, roaming the same streets in the Bulgarian city of Ruse in 2012 and then again in 2019.

The original 2012 photo shows the sable-colored dog behind a car in what appears to be a parking lot, with the latest image taken in 2019 showing the same dog lying on the same paved sidewalk on Matei Stoykov Street.

Originally posted by Reddit user Edish03 on the Google Maps subreddit, regulars in the online community were amazed that it could be the same dog seven years later.

“Omg, this is crazy,” one user commented.

Other users, however, were skeptical that it could be the same dog and speculated that the dog pictured in 2019 could be one of the 2012 dog’s descendants.

“Maybe it’s just that dog’s puppy that grew up,” another user wrote.

Another user said it was “unlikely” that the two dogs were the same, and the most recent photo “very likely” shows “one of the [the original dog’s] children. “

However, there was strong disagreement with this theory, and many users insisted that it was the same dog.

According to the Neutral Network, Bulgaria had 10,000 stray animals in the capital Sofia in 2012.

According to Sofia Globe, in 2016 the Bulgarian government said it had caught more than 22,186 stray dogs – this multiplication giving weight to the theory that the dog of 2019 is the offspring of the dog of 2012.

Searching Google Maps for eye-catching gems of everyday life has become a favorite pastime for users of the Google Maps subreddit and beyond.

Earlier this year, a Google Maps sleuth gave police a head start on the case of missing British teenager Leah Croucher.

Recently another Google Maps user caught the proposal of a german couple in a cornfield which had been immortalized on the software.
