A Google Maps User Spotted a Huge Pirate Ship in Brazil

Reddit users have been mesmerized by a massive wooden pirate ship that has been spotted off the coast of Brazil on Google Maps.
The screenshot, which was posted to the r/googlemapsshennanigans subreddit by u/Layzusss, shows the alleged “pirate ship” sailing the perfectly blue ocean at Ilha Das Cabras.
The ship, with four tall masts looking like it should be piloted by Captain Hook in Disney’s Peter Pan, has received more than 200 upvotes on the forum since it was found at coordinates -26.9868172, -48.6247413 earlier today (March 15).
Now users are wondering what this could be used for.

One user wrote: “Many resorts in Brazil have these pirate-like ships to ferry tourists around nearby islands and beaches.”
Another added: “Is it real?”
A third user added a link to Get Your Guide for the ship which offers customers the chance to “go back in time and board a traditional style pirate ship and sail around Balneário Bay to one of the most beautiful beaches in the region, Laranjeiras”.
The news comes after a curious Reddit user took to the Google Maps subreddit for help in identifying the purpose of some “grounded ships” they spotted on Russia’s northern coast.

“No idea how to find any info on them. If anyone knows anything that might help that would be great.”
The mystery fascinated the discovery as they shared their theories on what the purpose of the ships might be, which included a freighter and a ship used for polar exploration.
