After introducing the immersive view, Google added another cool feature to the Google Maps. To celebrate 15 years of Street View support, the app now allows access to images available for various locations at different times, which essentially means you can travel back in time to find out what places looked like at the time.
After tapping anywhere on the photo, you will find a See more dates menu option that gives you access to historical imagery dating back to 2007 for places that were part of Google’s first Street View mapping. It is able to do this because the tech giant has updated the images since the introduction of Street View.
Additionally, Google also unveiled a new camera to enhance Street View images in Google Maps. “This new camera takes all the power, resolution and processing capabilities we’ve packed into an entire Street View car and boils it down to an ultra-portable camera system that’s about the size of a house cat.” , says Google. The camera will be ready next year, and it fits in any car.
The feature is now available for iOS and Android users. Leave a comment to let us know what you think and stay tuned to TechNave.com for more tech news.
