Earthquake of 4.3 Iceland: 3.3 km ENE of Fagradalsfjall July 30, 2022 8:48 p.m. (GMT +0)
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the RaspberryShake Citizen Seismograph Network which listed the quake at magnitude 3.8. A third agency, the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC), reported the same 3.8 magnitude quake.
Based on preliminary seismic data, the quake was likely felt by many people in the epicenter area. It must not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling off shelves, glass breaking, etc.
In Vogar (pop. 1,000) located 11 km from the epicenter, and in Grindavik (pop. 2,900) 14 km away, the earthquake should have been felt as light tremors.
Weak tremors could have been felt at Reykjanesbær (pop. 2,000) located 19 km from the epicenter, Hafnarfjordur (pop. 26,800) at 21 km, Garðabaer (pop. 11,400) at 24 km, Kopavogur (pop. 31,700) at 26 km, Seltjarnarnes (pop. 4,300) at 28 km, Reykjavik (pop. 118,900) at 29 km, Mosfellsbaer (pop. 8,700) at 37 km and Mosfellsbær (pop. 8,700) at 37 km .
